The actor cleared on all nine charges with much help from Elton John and husband David Furnish’s Testimonies.
Kevin Spacey was found not guilty during his sexual assault trial in the UK with much help from Elton John and his husband David Furnish.
Spacey allegedly grabbed the crotches of three men and performed sexual acts on a man who was asleep in his home. The alleged incidents happened during a twelve-year period, from 2001 until 2013.
One of the alleged victims said he drove Spacey to the White Tie & Tiara Ball in 2004 or 2005. During the drive, Spacey allegedly grabbed his crotch so forcefully that he almost ran off the road. The accuser told the jury that Spacey allegedly stroked his leg, rubbed his neck, sexually touched him over his clothes and smacked his butt many times,
Furnish previously testified that Spacey did not attend the annual party at their Windsor home the year the accuser said he was attacked. Furnish supported Spacey's testimony that he attended the event only in 2001. Furnish said he reviewed photos taken at the party from the year 2001 until 2005. Spacey allegedly only appeared in the photos for the 2001 event.
John said in his video testimony that Spacey attended the party in the early 200s and arrived after flying in on a private jet. Furnish said Spacey's appearance was a surprise as it was a big deal at the time. John said he only remembered Spacey coming once to the gala and said the actor spent the night at their house after the event.
The alleged victim said he may have gotten the year wrong, but he notes that he wouldn't forget such an incident as it took his breath away.
A second accuser claimed that once he denied Spacey’s alleged crotch grab and the actor had a “panicked” look following the denial. He alleged that Spacey kissed his neck twice before grabbing him and telling him to “be cool.”
Another accuser alleged that Spacey grabbed his crotch “like a cobra” following a string of vile comments. The final accuser believed Spacey performed a sex act while he was asleep, bringing evidence before the court. The evidence was footage from a pre-recorded police interview.
According to Deadline, the accuser said he wrote a letter to Spacey in 2008 for mentorship. The actor called him to invite him over for a drink with the duo meeting up at Spacey’s house later that day.
The accuser later fell asleep and woke up hours later to his pants unbuttoned and unzipped. When he resisted and said, “no,” Spacey told him to leave and to never tell anyone about the incident.
After more than 12 hours of deliberation, the jury found Spacey not guilty on all nine counts of sexual assault. The verdict comes almost six years after the allegations began to surface.
